Following in the wake of “Tenet” setting its international release rollout plans, Cineworld has set its Regal Cinemas chain to re-open on August 21st – five months after they closed in mid-March.
Regal’s cinemas will enforce previously announced health and safety measures including sanitization procedures, social distancing protocols and mandatory mask policies for both employees and guests.
Mooky Greidinger, CEO of Cineworld says in a statement: “Welcoming theatergoers back to our cinemas will be a celebration for not only our team and our industry, but most importantly for the fans who have been anxiously awaiting the year’s upcoming releases. With the health and safety of our staff, customers and communities as our top priority, we are happy to invite audiences to return to the timeless theatrical experience that we have all dearly missed.”
AMC last week set a mid-August reopening, though that was before Warners announced its new U.S. release date of September 3rd for “Tenet” in select cities. Cinemark has yet to announce their reopening.
Things will kick off with the Russell Crowe-led “Unhinged” and the “Inception” re-release on August 21st followed by “The New Mutants” and “The Personal History of David Copperfield” on August 28th, “Bill and Ted Face the Music” on September 1st, “Tenet” on September 3rd, “The King’s Man” and “Kajillionaire” on September 18th, “Greenland” on September 25th and “Wonder Woman 1984” on October 2nd.
