The virtual event Justice Con takes place this Saturday, an event celebrating “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” and so it comes as little shock that the filmmaker himself will be involved.
Speaking with Beyond the Trailer, Snyder has hinted that fans can expect to see new footage from his cut of the film during the event and well ahead of the movie’s premiere sometime next year on the HBO Max streaming service.
Snyder teases that: “I may show a clip. And it is a small clip. It may be a small clip. Also, maybe there’s another tiny little announcement, just a little thing, for the fans. The clip is…that’s gonna be fun.”
As part of the same interview, Snyder also discussed the new cut’s runtime and confirms that the previously rumored runtime of just over three-and-a-half hours isn’t going to cut it – it’s going to go even longer:
“I have famously teased the runtime at 214 minutes. Now in its current state, it’s going to end up being longer than that yet. So, it’s exciting to be bringing all this new material to the fans – they get to see all these crazy and awesome new sequences, and I think that’s going to be really exciting for everyone.”
As for the greater DC Extended Universe continuity, he says his cut will be “kind of separate now from the DC cinematic universe continuity. And I think that’s a good thing.” He says his “main focus” is his three films – “Man of Steel,” “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” and his “Justice League” cut – so that continuity is important.
