John Boyega (“Star Wars: The Force Awakens”), Jack Reynor (“Midsommar”), Felicity Jones (“Rogue One”) and Jodie Turner-Smith (“Queen & Slim”) have joined the cast of the IRA-themed thriller “Borderland” at Piecrust Productions and Rocket Science.
Reynor plays Michael, an Irish paramilitary who witnesses the shooting of his pregnant wife at the hands of an SAS sergeant named Tempest (Boyega) when a border ambush goes wrong. When Tempest is sent back to London to lead a covert counter-terrorist operation, Michael joins a ruthless active service unit (ASU) wreaking havoc in the capital.
For Michael, the mission is personal – to hunt down Tempest and avenge his wife’s death. Jamie Dornan and Sam Claflin were previously attached to the Reynor and Boyega roles respectively.
The Guard Brothers (“The Uninvited”) helm the project while Chris Coen and Rebecca Brown will produce. The Guard Brothers co-wrote the screenplay with Ronan Bennett (“Public Enemies”), inspired by Steven S. Moysey’s novel “The Road To Balcombe Street”. Shooting will begin on location in the UK in early 2021.
