After months of rumors, it is now official – Margot Robbie is attached to star in a new “Pirates of the Caribbean” film at Disney Pictures.
“Birds of Prey” and “Bumblebee” writer Christina Hodson will pen the script for the female-fronted adventure which isn’t a sequel, spin-off or reboot – rather a “wholly original story with new characters under the Pirates moniker”.
The project is separate from the already announced reboot currently in development with original writer Ted Elliott and “Chernobyl” creator Craig Mazin. Jerry Bruckheimer is attached to produce both films.
