HBO’s Matthew Rhys-led “Perry Mason” reboot pulled in strong numbers on Sunday night, snagging a total of 1.7 million viewers across all platforms – the strongest debut for any series in almost two years for the network.
The number puts it ahead of “Watchmen” (1.5M) and “The Outsider” (1.2M) and puts the series on par with the debut of the third season of “Westworld”.
It wasn’t the only show to snag strong numbers either last night. Paramount Network’s flagship drama series “Yellowstone” drew 4.2 million total viewers – up 76% from the second season and a ratings records across key demos with a 1.78 – up 127% from the second season.
Across four networks (three Paramount Network telecasts and three simulcasts on CMT, TV Land & Pop), the premiere drew 6.6 million total viewers to rank as the most-watched cable premiere of 2020.
The Kevin Costner-led series was the #1 scripted series of the summer across cable and broadcast TV in the key P18-49 and P25-54 demos and the most-watched 2019 summer series on cable TV among total viewers. It’s also Viacom’s most-watched scripted series since 2010.
