Hulu and 20th Century Fox Television are reportedly developing a comedy series based on the notorious New Jersey theme park “Action Park” which racked up countless bruises, many broken bones and six deaths in its time.
Opening in the late 1970s, peaking in the 1980s and closing in 1996, the park was infamous for poorly designed and unsafe rides; intoxicated visitors and under-aged and undertrained staff. It famously featured a water slide with a vertical loop-de-loop.
The half-hour series is based on Andy Mulvihill and Jake Rossen’s book “Action Park: Fast Times, Wild Rides, and the Untold Story of America’s Most Dangerous Amusement Park”. The show is described the almost impossible-to-believe story of the park as told through the eyes Andy Mulvihill, the son of the park’s idiosyncratic founder, Gene Mulvihill.
Jason Winer and Jon Radler will executive produce while Mulvhill and Rosen will serve as consultants. This follows on from the recent documentary “Class Action Park” which has yet to be released and the trailer for which can be seen below:
