HBO has released the official teaser trailer for “Lovecraft Country,” its new series which hails from creator Misha Green (“Underground”), executive producer Jordan Peele (“Get Out”) and executive producer J.J. Abrams (“Westworld”).
The story follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors), Letitia (Jurnee Smollett Bell) and Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of Freeman’s missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams).
The journey becomes a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying supernatural monsters that could be ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback.
Wunmi Mosaku, Aunjanue Ellis, Jamie Harris and Abbey Lee co-star in the new series which has the likes of Yann Demange and Daniel Sackheim serving as directors. The show premieres in August.
