FX has made a bunch of announcements today starting with an official series order handed out to Ryan Murphy’s “American Horror Stories,” an episodic anthology spin-off to Murphy’s seasonal anthology series “American Horror Story”.
Each episode will be self-contained and deal with a different horror story. The mothership series, originally slated to premiere its tenth season later this year but has since pushed that to 2021, has already been renewed for a further three seasons beyond that. Murphy’s “Impeachment: American Crime Story” is also on hold until 2021.
As part of the network’s slate through 2021, FX also handed out a fifth season renewal to acclaimed comedy “Better Things,” a second season renewal for its Pulitzer Prize-winning “The Weekly,” and has renewed “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” for a fifteenth season – smashing a record and making it the longest-running live-action comedy series ever.
Also confirmed to be coming either later this year or 2021 – “Dave” (S2), “Breeders” (S2), “Atlanta” (S3), “What We Do in the Shadows” (S3), “Mayans M.C.” (S3), “Mr. Inbetween” (S3), “Pose” (S3), “Cake” (S3), “Fargo” (S4), “Snowfall” (S4), and “Archer” (S11)
As for the new series there’s the much anticipated “Y: The Last Man,” the Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow-led “The Old Man,” the Kate Mara and Nick Robinson-led “A Teacher,” an untitled B.J. Novak half-hour anthology series, and numerous docuseries about hip hop power brokers, LGBTQ civil rights, and imprisoned homicide suspects.
