Just four days after it release, the first season of the animated comedy “Solar Opposites” became the most watched title in the history of streaming service Hulu. Though not renewed as yet, a second season seems a given at this point.
That comes as little surprise to creators Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan who have revealed that they already have story arcs planned out for at least three or four seasons. Speaking with Slashfilm, the pair say they’re keen to move onto the second season and already know exactly where its going.
McMahan says: “We have stuff planned out for about three or four seasons on both sides. We have stuff that we know we want to do with the mission of the aliens on Earth and expanding our understanding of their relationship with The Pupa and meeting other[s]… on similar missions and seeing how that’s going. We’re touching on a little bit of that in season two.”
McMahan says they’ve also got more planned out for Jesse’s room ‘The Wall’ – “structural things that we knew we wanted for The Wall in a second, third, and fourth season, if we got picked up that far.” McMahan also says The Pupa is “a very slow burn…you will be seeing changes in The Pupa each season, but not so much that it dramatically changes the show until you least expect it.”
In terms of the second season, it is again eight episodes and the writing is wrapped. The first season is available on Hulu now.
