Though many film and television productions have been shut down due to the global pandemic, some were lucky enough to complete filming in the weeks or months before everything was put on hold.
Turns out “Doctor Sleep” and “Hush” filmmaker Mike Flanagan was one of the lucky ones. His highly-anticipated Netflix original series “The Haunting of Bly Manor,” the follow-up to his “The Haunting of Hill House” series, was due later this year before all this started.
In a post on Twitter this week, he confirmed that things are on track:
“Going great. Still on schedule, we wrapped before the shutdown and post production is carrying on from home. The show is shaping up wonderfully, I’m thrilled with it. At the moment no reason to think it’ll be pushed. @netflix will announce the release date when they’re ready.”
The new season is inspired by Henry James’ work, most notably the psychological gothic horror novella “The Turn of The Screw,” which takes place almost entirely in an old country mansion. Two young orphans are looked after by a young governess by whom most of the story is narrated by.
Victoria Pedretti, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Henry Thomas, Catherine Parker, T’Nia Miller, Rahul Kohli, Amelia Eve, Benjamin Ainsworth and Amelie Smith co-star.
