Marvel’s “What If” Series Still In Production

A while back came word that the Disney+ streaming service had shut down production on its various Marvel series including “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,” “WandaVision” and “Loki” due to the coronavirus pandemic.

However, one in the works Marvel Studios TV series that is remaining in production is the animated series “What If” which explores alternate realities and scenarios in the MCU.

During a recent interview with Newsarama, the Head of Animation for the project Stephan Franck confirmed that work is continuing remotely:

“I normally split my day between my home studio and the Disney lot for dailies and reviews, but now we’re just doing it all remotely. From what I hear across town, animation has been able to keep the shows in production with everyone safely working from home. Kudos to the studios for pivoting so fast to remote work.

I really can’t tell you much about the show, or S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are going to come and take me away. What I can tell you is that the level of talent and passion on the team is off the charts and that I am having a blast.”

The series will include Jeffrey Wright as the voice of The Watcher along with many actors from across the MCU reprising their roles as voice talent including Chris Hemsworth, Michael B. Jordan, Josh Brolin, Sebastian Stan, Mark Ruffalo, Hayley Atwell, Jeremy Renner, Karen Gillan, Michael Douglas, Jeff Goldblum and more.

The series is to debut on Disney+ exclusively next Summer, and for now that date remains intact.
