“Last of Us 2” Director Talks The Delay

Neil Druckmann, the director of the upcoming “The Last of Us” game sequel, has spoken with the official PlayStation Blogcast (via IGN) about the project’s recent delay. Originally slated to hit May 29th, the title has been pushed by creator Naughty Dog and is sittin on a TBA 2020 date.

Druckmann says he’s understandably frustrated about being so close to launch and having to delay for reasons beyond their control. He adds: “internally we know we have a great game and it’s just… we have to wait a little bit longer to get it out there to fans.”

So when will we see it? No clue as of yet with the coronavirus pandemic situation changing day to day. Druckmann adds:

“There hasn’t been a final decision yet, right now we’re just reacting. Right now we’re looking at all sorts of different options: what’s the best way to get it to all of our fans as soon as possible? But that’s gonna take time for us to shift and figure things out, and also see where the world’s at.”

So how much of the game is left to do? Druckmann says only a brief final polish:

“”We’re at the one-yard line… we want to polish it as much as we can, taking our time to review each section and making sure it’s all Naughty Dog quality. The game is there. We just have to sit on it for a little bit and figure out what’s the best way to get it to our fans.”

The talk comes as clips from the game leaked online the other day before being quickly taken down.
