A modern remastering of 2009’s “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2” is coming with the campaign element of the title available for purchase now on PlayStation 4. Other platforms like PC and Xbox One are available for pre-purchase to play on April 30th.
Originally developed by Infinity Ward and now re-mastered by Beenox, players enlist as members of Task Force 141 and Tier 1 Operatives in a breathtaking series of missions to save the world from destruction. The title remains one of the most critically acclaimed of the series, even as the campaign was criticised for being far too short.
Activision has also confirmed that the remaster features the full campaign, including the infamous level ‘No Russian’ based on a massacre of civilians at a Moscow airport that players can choose to take part in, and as a result the PS4 version will not be sold in Russia. The game does not include multiplayer or Spec Ops missions, however.
The remaster features improved texture resolution and detail, revamped animation, remastered audio, up to 4K resolution with HDR support on consoles, and uncapped framerates and ultrawide monitor support for PC. More details are up at Activision and check out the launch trailer below:
