Former “Law & Order: SVU” star Christopher Meloni is set to reprise his role as Elliot Stabler in a new drama series from procedural king Dick Wolf.
The untitled SVU spin-off revolves around an NYPD organized crime unit led by Stabler and has been handed a thirteen-episode straight-to-series order by NBC. It also paves the way for a potential crossover with SVU and his former co-star Mariska Hargitay as detective Olivia Benson.
The project marks the first from Wolf’s recent five-year, nine-figure overall deal that included multiple series orders for various platforms at NBCUniversal.
Wolf will executive produce alongside Arthur W. Forney and Peter Jankowski. Matt Olmstead will likely serve as head writer and showrunner.
