“Walking Dead” Art Recreated In Real Life

One of the most iconic images of the pilot of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” a decade ago has now been semi-recreated in real life.

With little to no traffic on the roads of the city of Atlanta this week due to the pandemic, a fan asked his friend who lives there to reproduce an iconic promo photo from the first season and so said fan went to Jackson St. Bridge and took the shot.

The original art was a recreation of a digital effects shot in the series pilot of Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) riding a horse along an empty highway. The sheriff’s deputy has awakened from a coma to find himself in the midst of a zombie outbreak that’s ravaged the world.

That’s not all though as the pilot episode also features a scene in which survivor Morgan Jones (Lennie James) has stockpiled a massive amount of toilet paper in the house – mirroring what many people have been doing in real life in response to the coronavirus news.

Intriguingly a CDC representative (via FanFest) has recommended watching the first season of “The Walking Dead” as a way of being prepared for a global pandemic. The series is still running and is in the midst of its tenth season on AMC, with the network suggesting there are no plans to end it despite severe ratings drops in recent years.
