In a letter sent out by Netflix Chief Creative Officer Ted Sarandos, it has been announced that Netflix has created a $100 million fund to help with hardship in the creative community.
Most of the fund will go towards support for the hardest hit workers on their own productions around the world, joining the two weeks pay they have already committed to the crew and cast on productions we were forced to suspend last week.
However $15 million of the fund will also go to third parties and non-profits providing emergency relief to out-of-work crew and cast in countries where they have a large production base.
The COVID-19 crisis has been a devastating one for many industries, including the creative community with almost all television and film production having ceased globally.
