“Harold & Kumar” Team Keen For A Fourth

The stoner comedies in New Line’s “Harold & Kumar” film series have done decently.

Three films to date were produced from 2004-2011 on a total budget of USD$40 million, and have so far grossed a total of $116 million worldwide along with being successful home video releases. It’s a film series in which another entry would seem like the kind of thing a service like Warner-owned HBO Max would be ripe for.

Recently actor Kal Penn revealed that those involved would love to come back for a fourth film, but it is mostly a matter of scheduling. Speaking with Variety, Penn says he, his co-star John Cho and filmmakers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg are all down for it:

“We would love to do a fourth movie. John Cho and I text about it all the time. Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg – who created and wrote all three movies in the franchise – we all would love to do one. I think we all, thankfully, have the blessing of being really busy right now and want to find the right venue and the right timing. We keep talking about it and are hoping in the next year or so to be able to find a good home. So, if anyone’s reading this and wants it, let us know.”

In recent years Penn was a series regular on the Kiefer Sutherland-led “Designated Survivor”. Cho is still recovering from an injury sustained late last year which shut down production on Netflix’s live-action “Cowboy Bebop” series.
