Sony Pictures Television, Original Film and Conde Nast Entertainment are all teaming to develop “Doc Savage,” a scripted television series based on the 1930s pulp fiction franchise.
The story will chronicle the Man of Bronze’s adventures which include rampaging dinosaurs, secret societies, dastardly villains, fantastic gadgets and weapons, death-dealing traps, hair-raising escapes, and plots to rule the earth.
In peak physical condition, he is a polymath with genius-level intellect and eidetic memory, one who uses his gifts and skills to correct injustice wherever he encounters it.
Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Oren Katzeff and Jon Koa will executive produce. Original Film has had success with TV adaptations of literary properties of late including “The Boys” and “Preacher”.
The TV follows on from various plans to adapt the property for film, first with Shane Black writing a version in 2013, and then with Dwayne Johnson signing to star in 2016.
