The late singer Whitney Houston, who has been dead for eight years, is about to go on tour again albeit in holographic form.
A February 25th date has been set for the tour which begins in Sheffield, England and hails from Base Holograms who did a similar outing with Buddy Holly/Roy Orbison recently.
Pat Houston, the singer’s former manager and head of her estate, says Houston planned on giving a more intimate, unplugged-esque tour before she died and this new hologram tour will reflect that posthumously.
Ticket sales were weak for previous hologram tours, but Houston is by far the biggest-selling artist to have their likeness tour as a hologram which is projected onto a nearly invisible screen. The show will also feature a live band and dancers choreographed by Fatima Robinson, who previously worked with Houston.
Base Hologram reportedly uses a body double along with hundreds of hours of Houston performances and extensive CGI synthesizing to deliver the final result which they claim is akin to Princess Leia in “Rogue One” in terms of how its constructed.
Audio is a blend of studio takes and live performances, allowing for spontaneous moments that offer a live feeling. All her biggest hits will be included, including “The Bodyguard” theme “I Will Always Love You”.
