We won’t get our first look at the still in production “Fast 8” until a first trailer in December, even then it will be notably missing something we sadly won’t see again – Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner character.
When Walker died during the production of “Fast 7,” his brothers Caleb and Cody stepped in for reference shots so that, with the help of visual effects people, they could complete the requisite shots they needed.
This week, Caleb Walker spoke with Entertainment Tonight and suggested something that came up during production of “Fast 7” and hasn’t been hinted at since – that Caleb may take over the role sometime down the line.
He tells the outlet: “I had a phone call with Vin [Diesel] for about an hour and we really discussed this a while back. He wanted [our] blessing”. He added that Diesel asked if and when they thought it “would be acceptable to maybe bring Paul’s character back… to really kind of let his fans know he’s still out there. Universal wants to make sure to be respectful of Paul and his image too, and his family.”
F. Gary Gray helms the new film which will launch a new trilogy of movies in the series. It is slated for release April 14th next year.
