The James Gunn-produced superhero horror movie “Brightburn” opened earlier this year and pulled in $31 million from a $6 million budget, and that’s despite mixed reviews.
Now, Gunn himself has confirmed over on Instagram that talks have already begun for a sequel. Asked this weekend by a fan if he could direct a “Brightburn 2,” Gunn replied: “I think I’m tied up for the next few years with [The] Suicide Squad and Guardians [of the Galaxy Vol. 3], but we’re talking about the [Brightburn] sequel.”
David Yarovesky helmed the first film from a script by Brian and Mark Gunn which was a subversive dark take on the Superman mythos. It also boasted an obvious setup for a potential sequel with other more sinister versions of superheroes running amok.
