Nicholas Hoult Joins Lanthimos’ “Favourite”

Nicholas Hoult (“Collide,” “X-Men: First Class”) has been cast in “The Lobster” director Yorgos Lanthimos’ new film “The Favourite”.

Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz star in the period drama in which Hoult will play Harley, a Tory party leader during the reign of Queen Anne at the end of the 17th and beginning of the 18th century.

Further plot specifics are unknown at this time. Stone plays Abigail Masham, Weisz is Sarah the Duchess of Marlborough, and “Broadchurch” star Olivia Coleman is Queen Anne.

Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara penned the script. Hoult recently wrapped work as Nikola Tesla in “The Current War” and will voice Fiver in the upcoming “Watership Down” mini-series adaptation.
