“Westworld” and “X-Men” actor James Marsden has been set to star in the “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie at Paramount Pictures.
Based on the classic SEGA video game character, the film will use a mix of live action and CGI to portray the story about a human cop who ends up befriending Sonic before the duo team-up to take down the evil Robotnik. Patrick Casey, Josh Miller and Oren Uziel worked on the script.
Marsden casting follows in the wake of a story yesterday indicating Paul Rudd was being sought for the lead role in the film, that report was subsequently shot down by Paramount reps.
Jeff Fowler makes his feature directorial debut on the project which opens in cinemas November 15th 2019. Neal H. Moritz is producing.
