Jordan Peele’s Next Finally Has A Script

Universal Pictures

“Get Out,” “Us” and “Nope” director Jordan Peele’s fourth directorial effort has mostly been notable for its delays.

The film was originally going to shoot in Summer 2023, but then those plans got scuttled, and the project kept getting delayed. It soon became fairly clear Peele was struggling to find something that was working.

Further scripts were developed in 2024 and 2025, but then also abandoned with Peele going back to the drawing board it was rumoured.

Now, three years on, it sounds like he’s finally cracked it. Puck’s Matt Belloni reports that Peele has finally settled on a script for the project, though things are still a “few months” away from any casting or date announcements.

Even so, it marks the first real positive news on the project in years. Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions has been busy in recent years, but following last year’s sports horror film “Him,” there are no other greenlit films happening.

Peele recently had his multi-film deal at Universal pared down, though it doesn’t expire until 2030. Meanwhile, his Monkeypaw Productions banner has no other greenlit films after the sports horror “Him” flopped last year.
