Sony Pictures is playing musical chairs with its release schedule today as the studio has decided to switch around the animated “The Emoji Movie” and the adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” novels.
Previously ‘Tower’ was slated for July 28th and ‘Emoji’ would have hit a week later on August 4th. Today, those dates have now become the other way around with “The Dark Tower” taking that early August slot.
The first trailer for “The Dark Tower” is expected to go online shortly. Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey lead the cast of the adaptation which serves more as a standalone sequel to the books than a direct adaptation according to reports.
