Just over a month since one of the Internet’s favorite conspiracies began, it has been put to rest by the subject in question – actor Tom Cruise.
Late last month a Twitter user named ‘ilovebutts247’ suggested Cruise donned a fake butt prosthetic in the 2008 war film “Valkyrie,” posting a screen cap of Cruise’s seemingly physics-defying posterior in the midst of an early scene in the Bryan Singer-directed film.
The tweet scored over 16,000 retweets and many more likes, and had people asking the question. Out doing press for “American Made,” Cruise spoke with Screen Rant and was asked about the rumors that he wore gluteus padding or a prosthetic in the film. The actor took it in good humor, saying:
“I have no idea [it was a rumor]. There was no prosthetic in Valkyrie. No… It’s me. It’s not CGI, it’s me. I do my own mooning in films. So let it be known, I do my own mooning.”
Frequent Tom Cruise collaborator and” Valkyrie” writer Christopher McQuarrie has also been asked about it, but declined to talk about the fake butt theory.
hello, please, i present the theory that for one single shot in Valkyrie (2008), at 5:12, tom cruise wears a fake butt. observe: pic.twitter.com/Tw6yTbsQUe
