A young Aragorn looks to be the central character of Amazon’s new and highly expensive “The Lord of the Rings” TV series according to a new rumor posted by the longtime reliable ‘Rings’ news source TheOneRing.net. The site claims to have heard the news from multiple sources and indicates it applies to the first season only.
Viggo Mortensen played the role in Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. In the books, he was the heir of Isildur and the thrones of Arnor and Gondor. The character was 87 years old in the ‘Rings’ trilogy, so a younger version of him means the series is likely to take place not long after the events of “The Hobbit” and a while before ‘Rings’.
Amazon has reportedly already committed to five seasons of the series with the hope the show will turn into the streaming giant’s own “Game of Thrones”. Peter Jackson’s potential involvement in the series remains uncertain.
