Stephen King took to Threads to share his official verdict on Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Prime Video miniseries take on his first novel “Carrie,” the author writing: “Mike Flanagan’s version of CARRIE is brilliant. What it has to say about social media is shocking and true.”
Flanagan’s version brings the story into the modern era, where social media and online viral bullying play an important role in Carrie’s experience. All eight episodes of “Carrie” will premiere on Prime Video on October 7th. [Source: Threads]
One Italian Summer
Brie Larson (“Captain Marvel”) will star in and executive produce Harry Bradbeer’s feature adaptation of Rebecca Serle’s 2022 novel “One Italian Summer” at Paramount Pictures. The title has locked in a May 12th 2028 release date.
Set in Italy’s Amalfi Coast, the story centers on a young woman who endures a devastating loss, leading her to reconnect with her mother in a new light. [Source:

Lance
Filming on Edward Berger’s Lance Armstrong biopic, starring Austin Butler, is reportedly is now holding casting calls, with production eyed for January. Zach Baylin (“King Richard”) is writing the script, and Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbit are producing the project for Apple Original Films.
Armstrong battled cancer and clawed his way back to professional cycling where he won the Tour de France seven years running. After years of denial, he finally admitted to doping, and his honors were stripped from him. [Source: WoR]
TV Dates
A couple of key TV series premiere dates have been announced. First, Starz has locked in a December 4th premiere for the third and final season of its stripper drama “P-Valley”.
Next, netflix has set an October 22nd premiere date for the third season of its Kristen Bell and Adam Brody rom-com “Nobody Wants This”. Finally, USA has announced an October 16th premiere date for the second season of its Grisham adaptation “The Rainmaker”. [Source: TV Line]
Movie Dates
Some film release dates shifted today. Sony has moved the Jim Caviezel-led action film “Ghost Soldier” to November 11th on Veterans Day. Caviezel plays a solitary man and former Special Forces soldier living a quiet life off the grid who takes on a powerful foreign corporation determined to seize his community’s land.
Also today, Alex Gibney’s Elon Musk doco “Musk” has moved up, the 225-minute title now coming a week earlier on October 9th in New York and Los Angeles. The film received widespread acclaim upon its premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
