“Paddington 4” Film In The Works

Studio Canal

A fourth film in the “Paddington” series is officially in development.

Studio Canal revealed the news during its CinemaCon presentation, though details are rather vague right now, aside from the fact that “world-renowned comedy writers” have been hired to pen the film (no names mentioned).

The franchise began in 2014 with the Paul King-directed “Paddington” film releasing to much acclaim. That was followed in 2017 by the highly acclaimed “Paddington 2,” which grossed $290 million worldwide on a $40 million budget.

Dougal Wilson helmed the third film, “Paddington in Peru,” which was released in 2024 and, while not as overwhelmingly well-received as its predecessors, still landed very good reviews and a $211 million worldwide gross.

“Paddington in Peru” ended with the titular bear returning to London with the Browns alongside some bears from El Dorado, where he was born. That would suggest a UK return for the next chapter.

Ben Whishaw is almost certainly back as the voice of Paddington but the remaining casting is unclear at present. The news follows a stage version of the character, “Paddington: The Musical,” sweeping the Olivier Awards in the UK the other night.

Studio Canal also showed off clips from other upcoming features like “Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom,” the Eli Roth slasher “Ice Cream Man,” and the Taron Egerton-led dark comedy “Everybody Wants to F–k Me”.
