Netflix and The Jim Henson Company have announced the voice cast of their upcoming series “The Dark Crystal: The Age of Resistance,” a prequel to the original 1982 puppetry fantasy classic.
Blending classic puppetry with cutting-edge visual effects, the story begins as the world of Thra is dying. The Crystal of Truth is at the heart of Thra, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land.
When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit and an epic battle for the planet begins.
“Kingsman” star Taron Egerton is Rian, “Split” lead Anya Taylor-Joy is Brea and “Game of Thrones” actress Nathalie Emmanuel is Deet – the trio of Gelflings. Photos of the three characters are included below.
Other actors slated to lend their voices include Helena Bonham-Carter, Eddie Izzard, Andy Samberg, Alicia Vikander, Natalie Dormer, Mark Strong, Mark Hamill, Harvey Fierstein, Jason Isaacs, Simon Pegg, Keegan-Michael Key, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Toby Jones, Theo James, Natalie Dormer, Harris Dickinson, Ralph Ineson and Shazad Latif. Feature film director Louis Leterrier will executive produce the series as well as direct.
