Tied to this year’s Star Wars Day, Lucasfilm has announced a series of novels and comics entitled ‘Journey to the Rise of Skywalker’ which will tie-in to the upcoming film “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” which serves as the final installment in the primary saga.
Michael Siglain, Lucasfilm’s creative director of publishing, says ‘Journey to the Rise of Skywalker’ will be their biggest and boldest film tie-in program yet and the majority will feature all-new stories set following the events of “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”.
Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, Leia, Chewie, the droids, and the First Order will all feature in the works which include the Del Rey-published book “Resistance Reborn” by Rebecca Roanhorse in which the group struggle to rebuild the Resistance after their defeat at the hands of the First Order in ‘Last Jedi’. The second novel is “Spark of the Resistance” by Justina Ireland in which the Resistance heroes answer a distress call from Minfar and face down a First Order battalion, terrifying flying creatures, and a weapon that could change the course of the war.
There’s also the young adult novel “Force Collector” by Kevin Shinick about a restless teenager with Force powers; and the Marvel Comics tie-in “Allegiance” in which Leia reaches out to the Mon Calamari for help following the events of ‘Force Awakens’.
Then there’s ‘A Finn & Poe Adventure,’ a choose-your-own-adventure tale with over twenty possible outcomes as Finn, Poe and BB-8 set out on a dangerous-but-necessary mission for the struggling Resistance; the IDW title “Star Wars Adventures” in which the Wookiees of Kashyyyk take on the First Order; and “The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” by Phil Szostak which offers the official behind-the-scenes concept, production, and post-production art for the new film.
The books and comics will start rolling out from October through until the film’s release in December. In addition, you can hear below some of the new score franchise composer John Williams has crafted for the “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” amusement park expansion which opens in around three weeks.
