Comedian John Mulaney has signed on to play writer Henry David Thoreau in Apple TV+’s dark coming-of-age half-hour comedy series “Dickinson”.
Hailee Steinfeld plays famed poet Emily Dickinson in her early, rebellious years. Thoreau was a transcendentalist who penned “Walden” and the famed essay “Civil Disobedience”.
There are no accounts of Dickinson and Thoreau knowing each other so his role in the show’s story is unclear. Jane Krakowski also stars as Dickinson’s mother, while Wiz Khalifa will play Death. Zosia Mamet will also guest star as “Little Women” author Louisa May Alcott.
Alena Smith serves as creator, show runner and executive producer.
