“It: Welcome to Derry” and “Argylle” writer Jason Fuchs has been set to pen an untitled “Transformers” script at Paramount and Hasbro.
Story specifics are under wraps, but the script is just one of several “Transformers” scripts in development at the studio. Another is the “Transformers” and “G.I. Joe” crossover film being penned by Derek Connolly (“Jurassic World”).
The new film is expected to continue the story after those seen in 2023’s “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” where Anthony Ramos’ character Noah Diaz was offered a job with G.I. Joe in the film’s post-credit scene.
The franchise’s first three films in the late 2000s/early 2010s were massive hits. The films underwent a mild overhaul, shifting from Shia LaBeouf to Mark Wahlberg in the lead role, for its fourth and fifth entries – the latter proving a disappointment.
All five of those films were helmed by Michael Bay. Travis Knight took over as director on the 1980s-set prequel “Bumblebee,” which was then followed by the Steven Caple Jr.-directed ‘Rise of the Beasts’ which is set in the 1990s.
The franchise also released an animated film, “Transformers One,” in 2024 to poor reviews. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto and Don Murphy will produce the new film while Steven Spielberg and Hasbro Entertainment will executive produce.
Fuchs is currently writing a live-action feature adaptation of anime “My Hero Academia” for Netflix and Legendary.
