First Trailer: “X-Men ’97” Season 2

Marvel, Disney+

Marvel has debuted the first trailer for the second season of its highly acclaimed animated series “X-Men ’97” which is officially set to return on Disney+ from July 1st.

In the season, the X-Men are scattered throughout time and must find their way back to the 1990s while facing Apocalypse. The new run seems to be inspired by the “Age of Apocalypse” comic storyline.

Over thirty new and returning mutants can be glimpsed in the trailer, along with all sorts of Easter eggs for fans (hello Weapon Plus). The trailer first screened at Comic Con Revolution in Ontario last week.

The voice cast includes Ray Chase, Jennifer Hale, Alison Sealy-Smith, Cal Dodd, J. P. Karliak, Lenore Zann, George Buza, A. J. LoCascio, Holly Chou, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Matthew Waterson, Ross Marquand and Adrian Hough.

Matthew Chauncey takes over as showrunner following the exit of Beau DeMayo. Chauncey also oversaw rewrites for the season. A world premiere event for the season is set for the Tribeca Festival in June.
