Filmmaker J.D. Dillard and actor Glen Powell are teaming for the Korean War biopic epic “Devotion” for indie production company Black Label Media (“Sicario,” “La La Land”).
The aerial war tale tells the harrowing true story of two elite U.S. Navy fighter pilots, Tom Hudner and Jesse L. Brown, during the Korean War and how their heroic sacrifices would ultimately make them the Navy’s most celebrated wingmen. Powell will star as Hudner
Dillard, coming off Sundance launched “Sleight” and “Sweetheart,” is helming the film based off Adam Makos’ 2014 book with Jake Crane and Jonathan Stewart adapting the screenplay.
Molly Smith, Rachel Smith, Thad Luckinbill, and Trent Luckinbill will produce.
Powell’s star is on the rise following breakout turns in Ryan Murphy’s series “Scream Queens,” Richard Linklater’s “Everybody Wants Some,” Ted Melfi’s “Hidden Figures,” and Netflix rom-com success “Set It Up”. He’ll next be seen in “Top Gun: Maverick” and the comedy “I Want to F- Your Brother”.
