Warner Bros. Pictures

“Furiosa” and “The Menu” star Anya Taylor-Joy is the latest to join “The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum” cast.

Taylor-Joy will play Seren, a Sindar Elf of the Woodland Realm. Her character is dubbed the “trusted and lethal agent of King Thranduil”. Thranduil is the character that Lee Pace played in “The Hobbit” trilogy and Pace reprises it here.

Andy Serkis returns as both Gollum and his pre-transformation version, Sméagol. Ian McKellen reprises his much-celebrated performance as the Wizard, Gandalf the Grey. Also confirmed to be back is Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins.

Joining them are Kate Winslet as Marigol, the matriarch of a settlement of Stoors. Jamie Dornan will play Strider/Aragorn and takes over the role from Viggo Mortensen. Leo Woodall is also onboard as Halvard.

“The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum” filming recently began in New Zealand and the film will open in cinemas on December 17th 2027.

Taylor-Joy will be seen later this year in a key role in Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Three”.
