“The Matrix” and “The Lord of the Rings” actor Hugo Weaving will re-team with Peter Jackson on the latter’s upcoming film adaptation of Philip Reeve’s “Mortal Engines” at Universal Pictures.
Set in a world many thousands of years in the future, Earth’s cities now roam the globe on huge wheels, devouring each other in a struggle for ever diminishing resources.
On one of these massive Traction Cities, Tom Natsworthy has an unexpected encounter with a mysterious young woman from the Outlands who will change the course of his life forever.
Robbie Sheehan, Ronan Raftery, Hera Hilmar, Stephen Lang, Jihae, and Leila George co-star in the film which Jackson, Walsh and Philippa Boyens co-wrote the script for.
Christian Rivers is directing the film while Jackson will produce with the movie to open December 14th next year.
