After serving as the co-lead in the first two films, Aaron Eckhart is bowing out of the upcoming action feature “Angel Has Fallen”.
Gerard Butler will return for this follow-up to both “Olympus Has Fallen” and “London Has Fallen,” as Secret Service agent extraordinaire Mike Banning. Eckhart’s U.S. President Benjamin Asher however won’t be back.
Eckhart told Collider this week: “The President is retired. He’s golfing and he’s amassing his library right now, so… [salutes].”
Rumors have pointed to Air Force One being a central aspect of the film which is currently targeting a 2018 theatrical release.
