Andrea Riseborough (“Birdman,” “Oblivion”) has signed on to play the role of Romaine in The BBC’s new two-part adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “The Witness for the Prosecution” which will screen over Christmas.
Sarah Phelps (“Eastenders”) is penning the work which begins when a man named Leonard Vole is arrested for the murder of Emily French, a wealthy older woman whom she left her fortune to and whom was unaware that he was involved with another woman, Romaine.
John Mayhew, a lawyer down on his luck, comes to his rescue when Romaine agrees to testify not in his defense but as a witness for the prosecution. Julian Jarrold (“Brideshead Revisited,” “Red Riding”) helms the mini-series.
