Director Zack Snyder (“300”) and wife Deborah Snyder are set to produce “Army of the Dead” at Warner Bros. Pictures reports the trades.
The zombie action-thriller, based on an original story by Snyder, won’t have any narrative relation to Snyder’s 2004 remake of “Dawn of the Dead” despite the similar title and subject matter.
Set in a quarantined Las Vegas in the near future, the story follows a father’s desperate attempts to rescue his daughter fromn a zombie-infested world. The aim is to do a film on a truly epic scale – ie. lots of wide shots of tens of thousands of living corpses.
It’s not sure whether Snyder is considering “Army” as a directing vehicle for himself after he wraps “Watchmen” which begins filming this Summer. Joby Harold (“Awake”) will pen the script to ‘Army’.
