True Blood
HBO’s “True Blood” saw a ratings dip in its sixth-season premiere Sunday. An average of 4.5 million viewers tuned in at 9pm, down 13% from last season.
Admittedly it faced tough competition from the NBA Finals on ABC. Also, half the show’s audience tuned in early at 8:45 to watch the behind-the-scenes special “True Blood: Live from the Set.” [Source: The L.A. Times]
The Strain
John Hurt has been set as the co-lead opposite Corey Stoll and Mia Maestro in the high-concept thriller pilot “The Strain” on FX. Guillermo del Toro and Carlton Cuse are executive producing.
The story follows a CDC team called upon to investigate a mysterious viral outbreak with hallmarks of an ancient and evil strain of vampirism. Hurt plays a holocaust survivor who immigrated to the U.S. after World War II and now runs a pawn shop in Spanish Harlem. [Source: Deadline]
