“Iron Man” director Jon Favreau is in negotiations to direct the new live-action feature film version of Rudyard Kipling’s classic India-set 1894 short-story collection “The Jungle Book” at Disney Pictures.
The majority of the tales focus on Mowgli, a young boy raised by wolves whose friends include a bear named Baloo and a panther by the name of Bagheera. They also encounter a tiger adversary named Shere Khan.
The story has been adapted several times for the screen, most notably as the 1967 animated film and again in 1994 as a live-action feature starring Jason Scott Lee, Lena Headey and Cary Elwes.
Justin Marks is penning the script, no producers are yet attached.
