The recent announcement of MMA fighter Ronda Rousey starring in MGM’s remake of the Patrick Swayze classic “Road House” has generally been met with a very good response.
Yet in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Rousey revealed a softer side than her tough woman image – revealing that she’s quite nervous about taking on the role:
“I think it’s been a year or two that I’ve been pursuing that [role]. I’m like obsessed with Road House, I love Road House. I can see why people would be hesitant to see a remake because it is such a classic.
In my own way I’m nervous. I get really nervous for fights, I get scared and stuff like that. The worst thing that’s gonna happen is that I’ll really suck and disgrace the name of Swayze and Road House-ness and everyone will hate me.”
Swayze starred in the original as a bouncer hired to clean up one of the rowdiest bars in Missouri. He eventually ends up protecting a town from a corrupt businessman.
