Lionsgate has given a green light for the previously announced “John Wick” animated film.
In addition, Keanu Reeves has closed a deal to reprise his signature role as the iconic assassin.
The project will go back in time to tell the story of John Wick before the first film, as he completes the Impossible Task in order to free himself from his obligation to the High Table and earn the right to be with the love of his life, Helen.
Ryan & Kaz Firpo pen the project while Emmy award-winning producer, writer, and director Shannon Tindle (“Ultraman: Rising,” “Kubo and the Two Strings”) will direct.
Reeves, Chad Stahelski, Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee will produce.
The film is one of three “John Wick” projects in the works alongside an official “John Wick: Chapter 5” as well as the already shot spin-off film “Caine” which Donnie Yen both stars in and directs.
