Netflix has released the trailer for the second season of its spy thriller “Black Doves” starring Keira Knightley, Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire, along with a whole bunch of names joining this run.
In the new season, Helen Webb (Knightley) is still feeding British secrets to the covert Black Doves organisation just as her husband Wallace (Andrew Buchan) prepares to become Prime Minister.
Her already dangerous balancing act becomes even more precarious when her handler, Mrs. Reed (Lancashire), becomes caught up in a plot designed to undermine her position within the organisation.
Meanwhile, Helen reunites with Sam (Whishaw), whose fortunes have fallen considerably since last season. Once an elite triggerman, Sam now spends his time drinking alone in Soho and taking low-level assassination jobs.
Their latest mission pulls the pair back toward old allies and enemies while forcing them deeper into the secrets and internal politics of the Black Doves.
Also returning from the first season are Ella Lily Hyland, Gabrielle Creevy, Agnes O’Casey and the legendary Kathryn Hunter as crime boss Lenny Lines. Sadly one of the best actors of that first run, Omari Douglas as Sam’s ex-boyfriend Michael, won’t be back.
Joining them are an impressive line-up including “Alien: Earth” scene stealer Babou Ceesay, “Scream” queen Neve Campbell, “Blade Runner 2049” actress Sylvia Hoeks, veteran Bosnian actor Goran Kostic, British alum like Sam Riley (“Control”) and Samuel Barnett (“Dirk Gently”), and rising actress Ambika Mod.
Joe Barton wrote, created, and executive produced the series, which returns with the entire season run on November 5th.
