“The Diplomat” Season 4 Full Trailer

Netflix

In the wake of Allison Janney winning an Emmy last night for her work on the third season, Netflix has premiered the full trailer for the fourth season of its acclaimed and award-winning “The Diplomat” which will return on October 15th.

All eight episodes of the new run premiere on that date and, like previous seasons with their cliffhanger endings, this one picks up right after the events of the prior season.

The end of the third season saw US ambassador to the UK Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) finding out that her husband, Vice President Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell), and President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) had stolen a Russian nuclear weapon and lied to the UK government about its fate.

One catastrophic moment shatters the fragile peace Kate Wyler brokered between the U.S. and U.K., as well as the crumbling marriage she’s trying to save.

While she fights to stem the bleeding, President Grace Penn and VP Hal Wyler’s conspiracy to steal Russia’s most powerful weapon hurtles the United States toward war.

Kate and Grace’s husband Todd Penn (Bradley Whitford), at best an uneasy pair, unite to stop the Grace-Hal alliance from upending the balance of power abroad and at home.

Ato Essandoh, Ali Ahn, David Gyasi, Rory Kinnear, Aidan Turner and Nana Mensah co-star while the trailer briefly showcases the arrival of a familiar face – former “Doctor Who” star Jodie Whittaker.

Showrunner Debora Cahn has previously teased that the series, which has consistently been releasing new seasons annually, still has plenty of life to it with the fourth season being seen as the “juicy middle” as opposed to one lining up some end game.
