Mason Gooding (“Scream”) and Emily Rudd (” One Piece”) are set to star in a follow-up to 2019 creature feature hit “Crawl” at Paramount Pictures.
The original alligators in a basement film starred Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper as a daughter and father caught in a Category 5 hurricane in the father’s Florida home. They become trapped in a basement overrun by giant man-eating alligators.
That first film became a critical and commercial success, pulling in $91 million worldwide from a $14 million budget.
Alexandre Aja, who directed the first film, will return to direct the film which will begin shooting later this month in Hungary.
The sequel brings the action to New York where gators arise in the streets and sewers after a hurricane hits the city.
Aja, Jason Harry Pagan, Andrew Deutschman and Gregory Levasseur all worked on the script. Craig Flores, Sam Raimi and Aja are producing.
