Pixar’s highly anticipated “Toy Story 5” has hit early tracking, and the numbers for the animated sequel look incredibly impressive.
Deadlinereports that earliest projections for the film have it on track to take in $150 million in its domestic opening weekend.
That would be a record opening for the franchise, ahead of the $121 million that “Toy Story 4” opened to in 2019. It would also be the biggest opening of 2026 year-to-date, ahead of the $132 million of “The Super Mario Galaxy Movie”.
The film is doing very strongly with both women and men under 25 and overall ‘first choice’ on surveys are currently ahead of “Inside Out 2” at the same point in time – that movie opened to $154 million back in 2024.
“The Incredibles” sequel still retains the crown for the biggest ever opening for an animated movie at the domestic box office with $183 million.
A24’s “The Death of Robin Hood” is opening the same weekend, but its box-office take is looking to come in under $10 million.
