“The Last of Us” S3 Casts Two Key Roles

Netflix, Lucasfilm

The two biggest remaining roles to be cast in the third and presumably final season of HBO’s “The Last of Us” have been announced.

“Bridgerton” alum Michelle Mao and “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” actress Kyriana Kratter will play teen sisters Yara and Lev respectively in the new season.

The pair are exiled Seraphites with Lev in particular one of the key characters, a 13-year-old transgender boy who becomes Abby’s moral compass as the point-of-view of the saga shifts to her.

15-year-old Kratter herself isn’t trans, but HBO held an inclusive casting call for Lev with young actors of different backgrounds auditioning and Kratter ultimately landing the gig.

The pair join other recent additions like Patrick Wilson as Abby’s father, Jason Ritter as an original WLF soldier character, Clea DuVall as a Seraphite and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. is taking over the role of Manny.

The new season is expected to translate the remaining back half of “The Last of Us Part II” game with Abby’s ‘Days 1-3’ in Seattle and her journey of redemption.

They join returnees Dever, Ariela Barer, Tati Gabrielle, Spencer Lord, Jeffrey Wright, Bella Ramsey, Isabela Merced, and Gabriel Luna. Craig Mazin serves as sole showrunner for the third season which is about to go into production.
