Mckenna Grace Is Daphne In “Scooby-Doo”

Paramount Pictures

Mckenna Grace (“Regretting You,” “Five Night’s a Freddy’s 2”) has joined the cast of the live-action “Scooby Doo” series at Netflix.

Grace will play a young Daphne Blake in the eight-episode series, which explores how the Mystery Inc. gang first met each other. Grace previously voiced the character in the 2020 animated film “Scoob!” and its axed prequel “Scoob! Holiday Haunt”.

The ‘modern reimagining’ is set during a final summer at camp. Old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder.

Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.

The series was created by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg (“From,” “Citadel”) along with executive producer Greg Berlanti. Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Andre Nemec and Jeff Pinkner also executive produce for Warner Bros. Television.

The series is said to be aiming for a “Stranger Things” tone and is reportedly looking to begin filming in April in Atlanta ahead of a 2027 release.
